Just as in death as in life, the style of Tony Wilson is there for all to see. This headstone designed by Pete Saville might have been unveiled three years after his death but there’s no denying it belongs to the cool end of the headstone business if there is indeed a scale. All that seems to be missing is a Fac number. The quote is taken from the 1876 novel Manchester Man by Mrs G Linnaeus Banks and reads – “Mutability is the epitaph of worlds, Change alone is changeless, People drop out of the history of a life as of a land, though their work or their influence remains’. The man is sorely missed.
