Once again, BBC4 have come up trumps with a great documentary shown last night (May 30). Evidently… John Cooper Clarke can be seen for the next seven days here and is well worth an hour of your time. I’ve been a fan of JCC for many years and I suppose he is in many ways the poet many people who have little interest in poetry like. It’s an affectionate portrait and also quite amazing to see that his waistline hasn’t expanded at all in the last 40 years or so. It’s also testament to the man and his talents that the programme featured interviews with amongst others Steve Coogan and Stewart Lee, if such greats of comedy are queuing up to add their praise then you must be doing something very right indeed.
