beta band then splendour, any chance of a review of atlas shrugged and you will have the hat-trick

don't know if you have seen 'straight story' but peckers thrilling mundanity reminds of farnsworth going down the hill on his lawnmower, he begins to lose control as the speeds go in excess of 30 mph. It has to be the most thrilling high speed scene in any film i have seen. just as the hunt for peckars reading glasses can take on search for the golden fleece proportions, farnsworths descent seemed like the 'fast and the furious - ohio drift.

Interesting article.

I'm glad the movie has made Pekar some new fans. When I first read him in 1990, I was struck by just how ... boring the stories were. But there is something about the stories. The events stay with you.

I like that he is getting into doing longer narratives nowadays. I enjoyed The Quitter and Unsung Hero.

The movie was like "American Splendor's Greatest Hits". It really did him justice.

In the late 80s Pekar appeared in the movie Comic Book Confidential. Well worth checking out if you've not seen it before...

Really good article Dougie. I agree that his discovery of his unique talent was very inspirational and the mundane details he relates can be extraordinarily touching because so few people acknowledge those moments.
